Jenny, Elizabeth Josephine, and Josephine Elizabeth surround their namesake at breakfast. They all have the same smile. Feel the love.
The Philadelphia contingent rolled in for a weekend in the mountains--a trip that was not easy for the travelers on their way up to our inaccessible Mountain Kingdom.
Helen and Nick braved a terrible traffic jam on the mountain on Friday to arrive 2 hours later than their ETA. Caitlyn and Rob's kids. Bert, Josie, Liz (aka Little Liz), and Jenny were happy to get out of the car after a standstill due to an overturned semi truck. It was a fun weekend with them, and Mom enjoyed watching them all play and do puzzles. After some typical sibling banter/wrangling, Josie and Bert completed the nearly impossible vintage animal puzzle. Maybe we can do it again with their guidance.
Saturday morning they all headed off with Mom to the Arboretum to play in the Children's Garden. Afterwards, pizza lunch at Faccia Luna and then the kids, Helen and Nick went out to Whipple's but the water was COLD! Jenny stayed home with the old folks because she wasn't having any fun. I found out the next day that she likes to play her board game but she loves to play with Legos and even let me braid her long golden locks while she was building a house and yard.
While we were playing and braiding, John took Bert, Liz and Josie on a hike in Shingletown where they forded the stream over a fallen tree foot bridge and climbed up the rocks to the summit using ropes. These are very game kids!
It was a great visit and ended with a Pinochle game where Helen crushed Mom and me with a hand that had a run and double Pinochle right off the bat. Don Quinn taught her so well!
