Lilah made a super fast but super special "cheater" version of Banoffee Tart to welcome her parents home from Paris on Valentine's Day. The recipe can be put together in 5 minutes--if you have all the right ingredients on hand. And we did!
Sometimes, maybe it is okay to cheat--on Father Time, anyway.
This "recipe" is based on one made every bit from scratch by Clare Traynor of Sweet Indulgence Desserts in Pleasant Gap, PA. Clare uses Mc Vities Digestive biscuits for her crust, but a Keebler Shortbread pre-made crust makes a very acceptable substitute. And Clare cooks sweetened condensed milk but Nestle makes a Dulce de Leche that you can spoon right from the can. Lilah had fun cutting up and arranging the two ripe bananas and we whipped fresh heavy cream for the topping. It was Lilah's idea to add a chocolate topping--chocolate chips in a heart shape on top. The fancy dessert was tres magnifique!
